We Recommend

Based in Atlanta, GA, Sidewalk Radio prides itself on knowing our city.  We hope you’ll enjoy some of our picks for culture, history, food, and of course retail therapy.  Below is a quick list that we update quarterly.  Browse our selection of episodes and find out much more and in greater depth.  Enjoy!

Sidewalk Radio Recommends:

ART & CULTURE

Double your art and design dose by visiting The High Museum and MODA (Museum of Design Atlanta) on the same day.  They are across the street neighbors, and both feature fantastic rotating exhibits.  The High also has a stellar permanent collection.  When you’re done there, pop down the street a few blocks to Empire State South for James Beard Award-Winning Chef appeal.

GOOD EATS & DRINKS

Holman & Finch – For a classic cocktail and down home food that’s classed up a bit, make sure to try out this gastro pub.  Get the “Southen Cola” and take note of the Coca-Cola art collection on the wall.

Looking for a morning cup?  Octane Coffee has you locked and loaded.  Voted Top 10 in both Bon Apetit and Travel & Leisure for their made to order espresso drinks.  Visit any of their 3 Atlanta locations.

GOING SHOPPIN’?

Of course there’s Lenox Mall and Phipps Plaza in Buckhead, and they’re definitely worth the trip, but don’t leave town without a tour around Atlanta’s Westside.

Sid Mashburn and wife Ann Mashburn both have current and super cool shops, plus you can always grab some shrimp and grits at JCT Kitchen right next door when your day of retail has you weary.

FOR THE HISTORY BUFF

We did not forget about you.  Civil War your thing?  Head to the Atlanta History Center.  The Cyclorama is another great stop where you’ll see the largest oil painting in the country along with a diorama depicting the Battle of Atlanta.  Wonderfully historic.

Have zest for more?  Jump on the Atlanta Beltline for a stroll through dozens of in-town neighborhoods to check out cool old buildings and public art along the way.  When you get thirsty make a pit stop at Arden’s Garden for a fresh juice (Monroe at 10th Street).

ALL THE FUN IN ONE PLACE

Yes, at The Curb Market you’ll get history, food, shopping, people watching and some of the best pralines outside of The Big Easy.  Head downtown and visit this cultural treasure.  Try a fresh juice and grab a Venezuelan arepa while you’re there.  Open Monday – Saturday 8:00am – 6:00pm.
